Married since 1984 to Marcia Zimmerman, who is currently senior rabbi at Temple Israel in Minneapolis

Three children, Rebecca (22) a student at Macalester College and a 2008 graduate of South High School, Naomi (19) a student at Brandeis University and 2010 graduate of South High School, and Max (16) a junior at Southwest High School.
